Summary

Our client Maroubra Curry House is seeking to add a Retail Manager to its established Indian restaurant in Maroubra, NSW. Offering freshly prepared curries, tandoori dishes, biryani, street-style favourites, vegetarian meals and traditional breads, the restaurant provides dine-in, takeaway and online ordering services while maintaining a strong focus on authentic flavours, quality ingredients and welcoming customer service.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Oversee daily restaurant, takeaway and customer service operations to maintain efficient business performance.

• Determine product offerings, stock levels and service standards based on customer demand.

• Manage purchasing procedures and maintain reliable relationships with food, beverage and packaging suppliers.

• Monitor stock movements, minimise wastage and ensure appropriate inventory levels are consistently maintained.

• Develop and implement marketing activities to promote curries, tandoori dishes, biryani and family meal options.

• Review menu pricing and product profitability while maintaining competitive and commercially sustainable offerings.

• Recruit, train, roster and supervise employees across customer service and restaurant operations.

• Set staff performance expectations and provide ongoing guidance, feedback and operational support.

• Handle customer enquiries, complaints and feedback professionally to maintain strong customer satisfaction.

• Maintain accurate records of sales, stock levels, expenses and other financial transactions.

• Prepare operational budgets and monitor expenditure against established financial targets.

• Ensure food presentation, service delivery and retail standards remain consistent throughout trading periods.

• Implement workplace health, safety, hygiene and food-handling procedures across daily operations.

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, customer engagement, sales performance and overall business growth.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in retail management, hospitality management business management or a related discipline.

• At least 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience in the same or a closely comparable role.

• Demonstrated experience managing daily restaurant, takeaway or food retail operations in a busy customer-focused environment is essential.

• Strong experience in stock control, purchasing, supplier management and minimising food and packaging wastage is required.

• Applicants must demonstrate effective staff supervision, rostering, training and performance management skills within a hospitality environment.

• Sound knowledge of sales monitoring, operational budgeting, expense control and maintaining accurate business records is required.

• Strong customer service and communication skills are required to manage enquiries, complaints and feedback professionally and effectively.

• Applicants must understand workplace health, safety, food hygiene and food-handling requirements applicable to restaurant operations.

• Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency, customer engagement, product profitability and overall business performance is required.
