About the Role

Cafe Dami is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef/Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to contribute to a busy, customer-focused cafe environment, delivering high-quality food consistently and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, cook, and present menu items to a consistently high standard
  2. Plan and cost menus, taking into account seasonal produce availability and customer preferences
  3. Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage food costs within budget
  4. Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards at all times
  5. Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including rostering and delegating tasks
  6. Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and used safely
  7. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and apprentices
  8. Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction
  9. Develop new menu items and specials in line with the cafe's style and customer demand

Skills & Experience Required

  1. Relevant trade qualification in commercial cookery (Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery) or equivalent experience
  2. Proven experience working as a Chef/Cook in a cafe or similar hospitality setting
  3. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  4. Excellent time management and organisational skills
  5. Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak periods
  6. Strong communication and team leadership skills
  7. Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  8. Flexibility to work across a full-time roster, including weekends where required
