Your new role
Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services for a large workforce operating under multiple awards and employment arrangements. You will lead a team of payroll specialists while partnering closely with finance, HR and operational stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Payroll Officers.
- Manage the end-to-end payroll function across a large employee base.
- Ensure payroll processing is accurate, compliant and delivered within strict deadlines.
- Oversee payroll reconciliations, superannuation, workers compensation and third-party payments.
- Manage month-end and year-end payroll activities.
- Produce payroll reporting for key internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive payroll projects, system enhancements, testing and implementation activities.
- Monitor legislative changes and ensure ongoing payroll compliance.
- Review and improve payroll processes, controls and efficiencies.
- Build strong working relationships across finance, HR and operational teams.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive experience managing end-to-end payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience working within complex awards ideally the SCHAD's and enterprise agreement environments.
- Proven people leadership and team development skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
- Experience leading payroll projects, process improvements or system upgrades.
- High attention to detail and commitment to service excellence
