Job Description

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Consequence Management Lead, you’ll design, govern and continuously improve our consequence management framework, helping ensure accountability outcomes are identified, assessed and applied consistently.

You’ll provide expert oversight and constructive challenge across matters involving conduct, risk, compliance, governance and performance. Working with executives, people leaders and governance forums, you’ll help turn complex evidence into informed, proportionate and defensible decisions.

This is an opportunity to make an enterprise-wide impact in a highly visible specialist role. You’ll strengthen accountability practices, influence risk culture and help leaders navigate sensitive matters with fairness, sound judgement and confidence.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Design and maintain clear rules and guidelines for assessing and applying consequences arising from conduct, performance, risk and compliance matters.
  • Establish governance mechanisms that support consistent, fair and defensible decision-making across the organisation.
  • Help ensure consequence management practices support relevant obligations, including CPS 511 and the Financial Accountability Regime.
  • Provide expert advice to executives, people leaders and key stakeholders on complex consequence management matters.
  • Review investigation findings, accountability assessments and supporting evidence to inform decision-making.
  • Support leaders to determine appropriate outcomes based on accountability, facts, intent, impact and mitigating factors.
  • Provide oversight and constructive challenge to help ensure outcomes are proportionate, consistent and aligned with policy and precedent.
  • Lead consequence management forums, including preparing reports, coordinating meetings and following up actions.
  • Partner with Performance and Reward teams to reflect accountability outcomes in remuneration decisions where appropriate.
  • Prepare clear reporting and insights for executive, risk, people and Board committees.
  • Analyse trends, themes and systemic issues to identify elevated risks, recurring behaviours or cultural concerns.
  • Develop meaningful metrics and dashboards to measure the consistency and effectiveness of consequence management practices.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and emerging industry practices relating to accountability and consequence management.
  • Educate and influence leaders on accountability, sound decision-making and consequence management principles.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You hold a tertiary qualification in business, law or a related discipline.
  • Your experience has been gained in a complex financial services environment, potentially across reward, accountability, conduct, compliance, whistleblowing, legal or consulting.
  • You’ll bring experience in reward, consequence management, conduct matters or risk-based investigations.
  • You’re knowledgeable about relevant financial services regulation and prudential standards, including accountability and remuneration obligations.
  • You have strong analytical skills and can assess complex incidents, breaches and accountability matters across multiple regulatory regimes.
  • Your written communication skills enable you to prepare high-quality reports, recommendations and regulatory notifications.
  • You’ll be comfortable managing several complex and sensitive matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • You’re an effective stakeholder partner who can collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and constructively challenge senior decision-makers.
  • You apply sound judgement, discretion and procedural fairness when working with sensitive information.
  • Your experience may include engaging directly with financial services regulators.
