Located within iconic Wrest Point and overlooking the River Derwent, Longhorn is Hobart's home of low-and-slow barbecue, premium steaks and comforting dishes designed for sharing. Inspired by traditional smokehouse cooking and backed by Tasmanian produce, our menu celebrates great food in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

We're looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join our passionate kitchen team and help deliver the high standards our guests have come to expect.

What you can expect in a day in this role:

As Chef de Partie, you'll take ownership of your section and play a key role in delivering Longhorn's signature dining experience. Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll be responsible for preparing and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard while ensuring smooth service and maintaining kitchen excellence.

This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute to the preparation of our smokehouse-inspired menu, including premium steaks, slow-cooked barbecue and hearty share-style dishes. You'll help uphold quality standards, support junior team members and contribute to a positive and professional kitchen culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your designated kitchen section during service
  • Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a high standard
  • Maintaining consistency, quality and attention to detail across all menu items
  • Monitoring stock levels and minimising waste through effective kitchen practices
  • Supporting food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
  • Assisting with the training and development of junior kitchen team members
  • Contributing to a collaborative and positive team environment

What you will bring to the role:

  • Previous experience working as a Chef de Partie in a similar hospitality environment
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • A genuine passion for working with high-quality Tasmanian produce
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
  • The ability to work independently and effectively within a team
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays

An appointee to this role may be subject to pre-employment and ongoing screening checks.
