Our client is a well-established Australian organisation operating across multiple sites nationally. They are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their Brisbane-based team.
The Role
As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate, compliant and timely delivery of end-to-end payroll services across multiple entities and jurisdictions. This is a hands-on role requiring strong award interpretation capability, advanced proficiency in systems, and ownership of statutory and compliance obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll across multiple entities and jurisdictions, including onboarding, change-of-details, transfers, terminations, redundancies and leave payouts
- Accurately interpret and apply industrial instruments
- Manage payroll tax across multiple states including calculations, lodgements and reconciliations
- Oversee superannuation processing and compliance, including quarterly contributions and query resolution
- Support PAYG withholding obligations in coordination with finance and external accountants
- Manage payroll-related WorkCover activities including processing payments, reconciling reimbursements, liaising with insurers, and supporting annual declarations across multiple states
- Maintain payroll policies, procedures and audit documentation, and drive ongoing process, accuracy and risk-reduction improvements
About You
- Demonstrated experience running end-to-end payroll across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and WorkCover requirements
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and accountability
- Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve complex payroll matters independently
