The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) is one of Australia’s leading veterinary referral hospitals, providing exceptional specialist and emergency care to pets and their families.

Our Western Sydney hospital is looking for a Hospital Attendant to join our team and help keep our hospital running safely, smoothly and efficiently.

This is an important role within our hospital. While the position is non-clinical, you’ll work closely alongside our veterinary nurses, vets, client services and hospital support teams to create a clean, organised and welcoming environment for our patients, their families and our people.
Every day in a veterinary hospital looks a little different, so we're looking for someone who is practical, organised and happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the clinical team by keeping our client spaces, wards, consult rooms and clinical areas clean, organised and well stocked
  • Cleaning and disinfecting cages, runs and clinical areas in line with hospital protocols
  • Supporting patient wellbeing by setting up comfortable spaces for incoming patients
  • Managing laundry from washing and drying through to distributing clean linen throughout the hospital
  • Restocking clinical consumables and helping keep storerooms organised
  • Assisting with stock control, including unpacking deliveries and stock counts
  • Managing general and clinical waste appropriately
  • Under the direction of our veterinary nurses and vets, supporting patient wellbeing with feeding, offering water, bathing and walking
  • Prioritising tasks and adapting to changing needs in a busy 24-hour hospital
  • Working independently while also being an active and supportive member of the wider hospital team

What We're Looking For
You don't need to be a veterinary nurse to be great at this job. We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing things well and genuinely cares about animals.
You'll be someone who:

  • Has a genuine love of animals and an interest in working in a veterinary environment
  • Takes pride in cleanliness, organisation and attention to detail
  • Is reliable, proactive and able to see what needs doing without always being asked
  • Can prioritise and stay calm when things get busy or plans change
  • Is comfortable with physical work, including cleaning, laundry, moving supplies and being on your feet throughout the day
  • Communicates well and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Can work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities
  • Is comfortable following processes and asking questions when you're unsure

Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, animal care, cleaning, hospitality, healthcare, warehousing or another fast-paced environment would be highly regarded — but a great attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are just as important.

What’s in it for you?
Working in animal health is incredibly rewarding, and Hospital Attendants play a bigger part in patient care than you might realise. This role is central in supporting SASH to enrich the lives of pets and their families.
At SASH, you’ll also have access to:

  • Competitive hourly rates + penalties
  • Flexible rostering and opportunities for a great work-life balance
  • Supportive leaders who are invested in your learning and development
  • A collaborative environment where Hospital Attendants, nurses, vets and support teams work side by side
  • Team member discounts
  • Regular team events and opportunities to connect with your colleagues

Ready to join us?
If you're someone who loves animals, takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a team where what you do genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply with your CV and tell us a little about why you'd like to join the SASH Western Sydney team.
