The Opportunity

To support the ongoing growth of our firm, we are looking for an 8+ PQE lawyer to join our Employment team as a Practice Leader. In this high-performing practice group, you will work across a broad range of employment law matters to help clients anticipate, manage and resolve legal issues. As a Practice Leader, you will gain hands-on exposure to leadership and management opportunities, and work with your team to provide technically excellent, efficient and pragmatic legal support for your clients. A collaborative ‘player-coach’ who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will be the perfect fit for this opportunity.

This is an opportunity to practice law differently - without the inflexibility, micromanagement and facetime of traditional law firms. This role offers genuine autonomy, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to shape your practice within a high-performing and engaged team.

  • Supporting the ongoing growth of the practice.
  • Providing written and verbal advice to employers on the full range of employment law matters, including in relation to modern awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Reviewing, drafting and updating employment documents such as contracts of employment, deeds of release and policies.
  • Supporting clients and advising on recruitment, onboarding, application of their internal policies and employee terminations.
  • Managing employment litigation matters and other larger projects and briefing counsel where necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience directly managing and developing junior lawyers to foster engagement and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
  • Admitted to practise on an unrestricted basis in Australia with at least 8 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Broad experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including employment contracts, policies, and handbooks, employee relations, disciplinary and grievance processes, terminations, restructures, and redundancies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and stakeholders.
  • A solutions-oriented mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice.

The Perks

  • Gain exposure to a diverse range of clients and legal matters, and develop close relationships with your clients.
  • Build strong people management and supervision skills.
  • Enjoy flexibility, autonomy and working within an incredible team, all while building a practice and supercharging your career.
  • Meaningfully contribute to the growth and direction of LegalVision.
  • Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
  • Regular team socials, drinks and team lunches.
  • Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options.
