To support the ongoing operational requirements of our kitchen and the efficient delivery of food services, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our team on a full-time basis.
Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation (depending upon experience & skills)

Main responsibilities
·Prepare and cook a variety of Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s recipes, menu specifications, and quality standards.
·Organise ingredients and complete food preparation activities before and during service to support the efficient operation of the kitchen.
·Operate ovens, grills, cooktops, and other commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively when preparing menu items.
·Monitor dishes throughout the cooking process and make necessary adjustments to ensure consistency in flavour, texture, portion size, and presentation.
·Season, portion, plate, and garnish meals appropriately before they are served to customers.
·Store ingredients, prepared food, and other perishable items correctly to maintain freshness and comply with food safety requirements.
·Assist senior kitchen staff with determining ingredient quantities and food preparation requirements based on anticipated service demand and catering orders.
·Coordinate with chefs and other kitchen team members to ensure meals are prepared accurately and delivered within appropriate service timeframes.
·Maintain clean and organised cooking stations, equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas throughout and following service.
·Follow established food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures when preparing, cooking, handling, and storing food.
·Minimise food wastage through appropriate preparation, portion control, storage, and stock rotation practices.
Qualifications & Skills
·Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Kitchen Management, or a relevant qualification.
·Minimum experience of at least two years working as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen position.
·Practical knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
·Experience preparing Indian and/or Indo-Chinese cuisine will be highly regarded.
·Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
·Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
·Strong organisational and time-management skills.
·Ability to follow recipes, preparation instructions, and established food quality standards.
·Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a kitchen team.
·Flexibility to work according to the restaurant’s operational requirements, including weekends and public holidays where required.
