KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and operational readiness of six holiday parks.
  • Lead a team of permanent and casual staff while managing contractor coordination and compliance.
  • Implement operational improvements and ensure facilities are safe and welcoming for visitors.

Employer Bio:
Bellarine Bayside is a not-for-profit public entity entrusted with the care of 17 kilometres of coastal Crown land along the northern Bellarine Peninsula, encompassing Portarlington, Indented Head and St Leonards. Its responsibilities span six holiday parks, public open spaces, coastal trails, recreation facilities and nearly $30 million in built assets.

Operating through a distinctive self-funded model, its holiday parks generate approximately 90% of operational revenue, which is reinvested into maintaining and enhancing the coastline, community infrastructure and natural environments that make the region such a valued place to live and visit.

The Job:
With the busy summer holiday season approaching, this is an opportunity to step into the heart of a thriving coastal tourism operation, leading an established team across six holiday parks, with a $106,000 salary plus superannuation and a paid day off every fortnight.

Bellarine Bayside is seeking a practical and capable Operations Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, presentation and operational readiness of its holiday parks, ensuring facilities are safe, welcoming and well maintained, particularly when visitor numbers and operational demands are at their highest.

Reporting to the Commercial and Holiday Parks Manager, you’ll lead four permanent Maintenance and Visitor Services employees, supported by casual staff and contractors. Your responsibilities span grounds and facilities maintenance, rostering, contractor coordination, compliance, visitor services and operational improvements.

This is a role for someone who can lead from the front. You’ll be confident making decisions, setting expectations and managing performance, but equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves, supporting colleagues and getting involved when the situation calls for it. Strong communication, sound judgement and the ability to earn the respect of an experienced team will be essential.

Working closely with customer service and housekeeping colleagues, you’ll coordinate maintenance and improvement projects, manage competing priorities and bring structure to the systems, documentation and processes that support effective operations.

The position is predominantly Monday to Friday, based on 76 hours per fortnight, with a shared after hours on-call roster and occasional weekend and public holiday requirements, particularly during peak holiday periods.

Why You Should Apply:
Few operational leadership roles offer this combination of variety, autonomy and visible impact. You’ll have the opportunity to improve how six holiday parks operate, develop a capable team and see the results of your work in the facilities and experiences enjoyed by thousands of visitors.

Importantly, this isn’t simply about running a commercial tourism operation. Revenue generated through Bellarine Bayside’s holiday parks supports the care and preservation of 17 kilometres of coastline, giving your work a broader community and environmental purpose.

For someone who enjoys a busy, practical environment, values good people and takes pride in getting things done properly, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.

Culture Snapshot:
Bellarine Bayside is a down to earth, community focused organisation guided by values of respect, care, teamwork, acting ethically and leading by example. Its holiday parks team brings considerable practical experience and local knowledge. The successful person will bring an approachable, collaborative leadership style, combining genuine respect for colleagues with the confidence to introduce improvements, uphold standards and address challenges constructively. What matters is someone who communicates well, follows through and is as willing to lend a hand as they are to lead.

Benefits On Offer:

  • $106,000 plus superannuation
  • Full-time, ongoing employment
  • Paid fortnightly day off
  • Predominantly Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight
  • Shared after hours on-call arrangements
  • Additional paid time off for public holidays worked
  • Portarlington base, working across six coastal holiday parks
  • Leadership of an established team with varied operational responsibilities
  • An opportunity to contribute to the ongoing care of the northern Bellarine coastline

Skills Required:
You’ll bring proven experience in holiday park operations, tourism, facilities management, grounds maintenance or a comparable operational environment, together with the ability to lead people, coordinate resources and maintain high standards of service and presentation.

Experience in holiday parks would be particularly welcome, although strong candidates from related industries are encouraged to apply.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Proven people leadership, including rostering, performance management and team development
  • Experience coordinating facilities, maintenance, grounds or asset management activities
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and seasonal demands
  • Sound understanding of workplace safety, risk management and operational compliance
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers and maintenance projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the confidence to handle difficult conversations
  • Strong digital literacy, documentation and administrative capability
  • A practical, adaptable approach and willingness to work alongside your team when needed

A current Australian driver’s licence and capacity to satisfy relevant pre-employment checks are required.

How To Be Considered:
Applications should include a current CV and a cover letter outlining your interest in the position and the operational and people leadership experience you would bring to Bellarine Bayside. A separate response addressing every selection criterion is not required at the initial application stage.
