Job description:
Bombay to Byron Pty Ltd (ABN **************), located in Byron Bay, NSW 2481, Australia, is seeking to employ a reliable, experienced and passionate full-time Cook to join our team.
Applicants will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, quality standards and service requirements.
- Create and execute food preparation plans, check stock levels and coordinate with the kitchen team during service to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently.
- Maintain safe, clean and sanitary working conditions in the kitchen at all times.
- Communicate with the kitchen team regarding upcoming services, expected bookings, functions and food preparation requirements.
- Check and maintain appropriate stock levels and place orders when necessary.
- Check incoming deliveries, ingredient quality and expiry dates, and ensure ingredients are appropriately stored in cool rooms, freezers and dry storage areas to maintain quality and freshness.
- Ensure food is appropriately covered, labelled and stored at the correct temperatures, including freezing and preserving food where required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and proper condition of kitchen equipment, utensils and food preparation areas.
- Implement and follow strict food safety, hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking and presentation to ensure consistent standards.
- Operate effectively during busy service periods and communicate clearly with other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Assist front-of-house team members by providing accurate information regarding menu items, food availability and special dietary requirements.
- Respond appropriately to customer feedback and complaints and contribute to continuous improvements in food quality and service.
- Assist in maintaining an organised, hygienic and efficient kitchen during peak service periods.
- Work cooperatively as part of the kitchen team and provide assistance to kitchen and front-of-house staff where required.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants interested in the position must have the relevant qualifications and experience, including:
- At least an AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent relevant qualification; and
- At least 1 years of full-time relevant work experience in the nominated occupation.
The successful applicant must be reliable, organised and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team are essential.
