Full Time Indicative Base Package Value: $345,363 to $455,052 (Pro Rata part time) - Excluding Attraction and Retention Inncentive (ARIn) and Managerial Allowance

Indicative Base Package inclusive of

l     Base Salary $204,936 to $274,696

l    Superannuation (12.5%)

l    Private Practice Allowance – Based on Scheme A (other scheme's available)

l     Professional development allowances

l     On-call allowance 17.4%

l     Mobile Phone allowance

l    Generous leave provisions, including up to 5 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum

l    Annual Leave Loading 17.5%

Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise.

Additional salary opportunity:

l Managerial Allowance applicable for the Unit Director component of the role $49,645 pa (Pro Rata Part Time) 

l  Generous Attraction and Retention Incentive’s (ARIn) available for this position - Subject to meeting eligibility criteria - (pro-rata for part time)

About the Role:

The Division of Women Youth and Children (WYC) provide a broad range of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services. Service provision is based on a family-centred interdisciplinary approach to care, in partnership with consumers and other service providers.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Canberra Hospital provides tertiary level obstetrics and gynaecological services to the ACT and surrounding regions. The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children has more than 3,700 births per year and is a level 6 referral centre for high-risk pregnancies for the region.

The Unit Director, Obstetrics and Gynaecology provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for Obstetric and Gynaecological services across Canberra Health Services. The position sits within the Division of Women, Youth and Children and maintains strong professional relationships with North Canberra Hospital to ensure seamless integration across both services.

As a key member of the WYC leadership team, the position works in partnership with midwifery, allied health and executive colleagues to deliver integrated, person-centred services aligned to CHS priorities. The role balances senior clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, contributing to the development of a contemporary, sustainable obstetric and gynaecological service.

The Unit Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a 3-year appointment that attracts a Managerial Allowance Level 2 and is supported by a Clinical Lead (Obstetrics) and a Clinical Lead (Gynaecology).

The successful applicant must have RANZCOG Fellowship. They must possess excellent communication skills, an ability to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and a drive for teaching, service innovation and quality improvement.

This position will be embedded in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, with pro-rata on call duties and contribution to inpatient management.

l Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

l Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)

l Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
