Desserts by Rimo Pty Ltd trading as Sweet Evelyn is seeking an experienced and qualified Cook (ANZSCO 351411) to join our kitchen team at our specialist dessert and bakery café in Brunswick.

Sweet Evelyn is a specialist dessert and bakery café located at 128 Union Street, Brunswick VIC 3056. Our kitchen produces a range of baked and dessert products on site and also provides breakfast and lunch service.
Our product range includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free products, requiring careful food preparation, cooking, baking, food safety and allergen-control practices.
About the position
The successful Cook will work as part of our kitchen team and will be responsible for preparing and cooking food and bakery/dessert products in accordance with established recipes, production requirements, quality standards and food safety procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, season and cook food in accordance with recipes and production requirements.
- Prepare ingredients including vegetables, fruits, dairy and plant-based ingredients, pastry components and other food products.
- Cook and prepare breakfast and lunch menu items.
- Prepare and produce bakery, pastry and dessert products as required.
- Assist with the daily production of baked and dessert products.
- Follow established recipes, specifications and production schedules.
- Monitor the quality, presentation and consistency of food and finished products.
- Prepare vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free products in accordance with specified recipes and allergen-control procedures.
- Ensure appropriate food handling, hygiene, storage and temperature-control procedures are followed.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Assist with stock rotation, storage and preparation of ingredients.
- Minimise food waste and maintain appropriate portion and production controls.
- Work efficiently during busy breakfast, lunch and production periods.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and the business's food safety procedures.
- Work cooperatively with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to meet daily production and service requirements.
Skills and experience
The successful applicant should have:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience as a Cook or in a closely related commercial cooking role.
- Minimum Certificate IV qualification in Commercial Cookery, Kitchen Management or a related field, or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook food to a consistent commercial standard.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a commercial kitchen team.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
What We Offer
- Full-time permanent employment.
- Salary of $79,500 per annum + 12% superannuation.
