Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Examining ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality and suitability before commencing daily food preparation activities.

• Preparing and cooking menu items including breakfast items - in accordance with established recipes and standards.• Regulating and monitoring the temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked safely and consistently.

• Portioning and presenting prepared food items, including arranging toppings, sauces, garnishes and accompaniments according to established presentation standards.

• Preparing menu items to accommodate customer dietary requirements, allergies and other special food requests while following appropriate food handling procedures.

• Storing ingredients, prepared foods and perishable products in temperature-controlled facilities to maintain freshness, quality and food safety requirements.

• Monitoring food preparation requirements and assisting with estimating ingredient quantities and food supplies required for daily café operations.

• Maintaining cleanliness of cooking areas, utensils and kitchen equipment and ensuring food preparation practices comply with hygiene and safety requirements.

• Assisting in training and guiding junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods, portioning, presentation and established kitchen procedures.

To succeed in the role, you must meet below criteria:

• Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in commercial cookery, Diploma in Kitchen Management, or Diploma in Hospitality Management

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced café environment

• Australian work experience is mandatory

• Experience working in high-volume café and food production environments• Knowledge of café-style cuisine, desserts and casual dining preparation

• Available to work across both weekdays and weekends

• Sound understanding of food safety and HACCP requirements

• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently
