THE ROLE
The Lane Retreat is a luxury Hunter Valley destination set within Bimbadgen’s award-winning vineyard on Palmers Lane, Pokolbin. Featuring 60 beautifully designed studio retreats across 15 hectares of secluded vineyard and natural bushland, it offers guests panoramic views of the Brokenback Ranges and an exceptional wine-country experience.
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager to support the Hotel Manager with the day-to-day operations of The Lane Retreat. Leading across Guest Services and Housekeeping, you will help deliver a seamless guest experience, develop team capability and ensure operational continuity in the Hotel Manager’s absence.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily Guest Services and Housekeeping operations, ensuring consistently high service standards.
- Lead, support and develop team members through daily direction, training and performance feedback.
- Act as a senior escalation point for guest concerns, operational challenges and team matters.
- Coordinate room readiness, reservations, occupancy and guest flow across the property.
- Support rosters, billing, reconciliations, inventory, opening and closing procedures, and other operational activities.
- Drive bookings and revenue through exceptional service, strong product knowledge, concierge support and cross-selling.
YOUR BACKGROUND
- Previous hotel or hospitality operations experience, including team leadership or supervisory responsibility.
- Sound knowledge of front-office and rooms-division operations, including PMS and reservations systems.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with confidence handling billing and reconciliation activities.
- A hands-on, service-focused leadership style and demonstrated ability to support sales and revenue outcomes.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, with a current driver licence and RSA—or the ability to obtain one.
