The Organisation
Founded in 1961 by WWII War Widow Jessie Vasey, Vasey is a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation providing secure, independent residential accommodation for older Australians, with a preference for veterans and their families. Operating five retirement villages across key Sydney locations, Vasey supports a thriving community of more than 370 residents across 309 homes.
With a proud heritage of supporting those who have served our country, Vasey is embarking on an exciting new chapter through the development of a Veteran Affordable Housing Strategy designed to address housing insecurity and create sustainable housing pathways for veterans and their families.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Veteran Partnerships Manager is a newly created role responsible for helping establish and deliver Vasey’s Veteran Housing Strategy across NSW.
Combining strategic partnerships with hands-on engagement, you will build relationships across government, Defence, DVA, ESOs and the housing sector, while remaining closely connected to veterans and their needs. This could see you engaging senior government stakeholders one day and supporting a veteran experiencing housing insecurity to navigate available pathways the next.
You will identify opportunities, secure funding and partnerships, and translate these into practical initiatives that improve housing outcomes for veterans and their families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and delivery of Vasey’s Veteran Housing Strategy across NSW.
- Building partnerships with ESOs, government, Defence, DVA and housing providers.
- Engaging with veterans to understand housing needs and connect them with appropriate pathways.
- Identifying practical housing opportunities across metropolitan and regional NSW.
- Securing grants, philanthropy and partnership funding.
- Preparing business cases, funding submissions and feasibility assessments.
- Representing Vasey across the veteran sector and key stakeholder forums.
About You
You are a credible and genuine relationship builder who understands the veteran community and is motivated by improving outcomes for veterans and their families.
You will bring:
- Veteran, veteran family member, or significant experience within the veteran community or ESO sector.
- Strong understanding of the veteran ecosystem, government agencies and support pathways.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and translate ideas into practical initiatives.
- Strong communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
- An adaptable, hands-on approach across both strategic and operational priorities.
- Passion for improving outcomes for veterans and their families.
