UX/UI Designer

12-month contract with 6 months extension
Hybrid working arrangement - 3 days per week onsite
Location :- ACT, VIC, NSW
Required Baseline cleared          

DFP Recruitment is seeking  the UX/ UI Designers for our federal government client. UX/UI Designer, you will apply specialist experience design expertise to help shape and improve digital products and services used by participants, providers and staff.

Responsibilities of the role

• Lead and contribute to UX/UI design activities across discovery, design, validation and implementation.
• Apply human-centred design approaches to understand user needs and create accessible, effective and evidence-based solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve user, business and technical challenges.
• Develop conceptual through to implementation-ready designs, interaction specifications and supporting artefacts.
• Facilitate workshops, design activities and stakeholder engagement sessions.
• Provide specialist advice within your area of expertise.
• Contribute to design system evolution and adoption.
• Support and mentor less experienced practitioners where appropriate.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills:

• Demonstrated experience applying human-centred design methodologies to deliver user-centred digital products and services, including user research, interaction design, interface design, prototyping, testing and validation.
• Demonstrated ability to translate user needs, research insights and business requirements into practical, accessible and evidence-based design solutions in complex environments.
• Experience collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams, working with product managers, business analysts, developers, researchers and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and facilitation skills, with demonstrated ability to influence decisions and communicate design rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working within government, public sector or highly regulated environments.
• Experience contributing to or working with design systems, component libraries and design governance frameworks.
• Experience using contemporary UX/UI design and prototyping tools such as Figma, FigJam, Miro or similar.
• Experience supporting digital transformation, service reform or large-scale organisational change initiatives.
