Trainee Materials Officer

Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a state government client to support them in recruiting for a Trainee Materials Officer based in Warwick, QLD.
This is a 6-month contract (with extension potential), with an immediate start.
About the role:
- Perform materials testing under supervision – soil, aggregate, concrete, bitumen and asphalt
- Assist with data analysis, ensuring accuracy and timely turnaround
- Travel with experienced staff on regional field investigations and site sampling
- Work both indoor and outdoor, including physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 25kg, shovelling, uneven terrain)
- Occasional isolated locations with limited mobile coverage for up to 5 days – all travel costs covered
Preferred Requirements:
- Current Class C driver’s licence
- Physically able to perform manual handling, lifting and extended standing/walking
- Sound numeracy and basic computer skills
- Comfortable with regional travel and time away from home base
Preferred Qualifications:
- No formal qualifications required – training provided
- Prior lab, trades, civil or construction exposure highly regarded but not essential
