Hays Cairns is partnering with a well-established local trade business delivering quality electrical and air conditioning services across residential and light commercial projects throughout the Cairns region. The business is preparing for a busy season ahead and is looking to add a motivated Trade Assistant to its growing team. The role supports electrical and air conditioning trades working across residential and light commercial sites.

Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the electrical and air conditioning industry. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll assist with installations, maintenance, site preparation, material handling and general labouring duties.No previous air conditioning or electrical experience is required. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting Electricians and Refrigeration Mechanics on-site
• Loading, unloading and transporting materials
• Preparing worksites and maintaining a tidy work environment
• Using basic hand and power tools
• Assisting with installations and maintenance works
• General labouring and trade support duties
• Following workplace health and safety procedures
• Providing excellent customer service when attending client sites

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
• Current Driver's Licence
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Positive attitude and eagerness to develop new skills
• Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain)
