The Opportunity
Sands Fridge Lines (Sands) is seeking a motivated and reliable Mechanical Trade Assistant to join our experienced workshop team at our Forrestfield depot.
Working alongside qualified mechanics and trades personnel, you will play an important role in supporting the servicing, maintenance, and repair of our modern fleet of rigid trucks, prime movers, and trailing equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their mechanical experience, develop new skills, and establish a long-term career within a leading WA transport and logistics business.
No two days are the same, and you'll gain valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced workshop environment while working with a supportive and experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics with servicing, maintenance, and repairs of heavy vehicles and trailers
- Support workshop operations to ensure maximum fleet reliability and availability
- Prepare tools, equipment, and parts required for maintenance activities
- Carry out basic mechanical tasks under supervision
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and workshop standards
- Assist with workshop housekeeping and general duties as required

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a workshop, automotive, transport, or mechanical environment (preferred)
- Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools and equipment
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
- Good attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Full Australian working rights
- A current driver's licence and reliable transport to and from work
Desirable
- Experience working with trucks, trailers, or heavy vehicles
- HR Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Mechanical pre-apprenticeship or related trade exposure
