GRG Engineers Pty Ltd is a professional engineering consultancy that has delivered innovative, practical and efficient solutions to its clients since 1996. 100% Australian-owned and operated, GRG works for local and national companies, large and small, across a number of industry sectors.

We are seeking a qualified and technically capable Structural Engineer with strong analytical, design and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and analyses industrial and building structures, including platforms, steel frames, lifting systems and reinforced concrete slabs, using specialized software (SpaceGass, Autocad Civil 3D, Revit, ETABS, Robot) to evaluate loads, stresses, fatigue, vibrations and safety factors in accordance with Australian Standards AS 4100, AS 3600 and AS 1170.
  • Develops advanced structural models for steel and reinforced concrete structures, applying load combinations, static and dynamic analysis, section verification, ultimate and serviceability limit states, and Australian design criteria.
  • Inspects and evaluates existing structures in industrial environments, identifying deficiencies or failures, performing comparative performance analyses and proposing reinforcement or redesign solutions to ensure structural safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepares technical reports, calculation notes, structural drawings, models and design recommendations, ensuring quality, traceability, accuracy and consistency with Australian standards and engineering best practices.
  • Supervises structural construction activities on site, verifying demolitions, steel erection, formwork installation, reinforcement steel placement and concrete pours, ensuring compliance with drawings, technical specifications, ITPs and quality and safety standards.
  • Reviews, approves and audits ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans) or NCR's (Non-Conformance Reports) for industrial and port projects, validating structural engineering compliance, load-transfer sequencing, structural tolerances, reinforcement placement requirements and conformance with the original design assumptions and specifications.
  • Coordinates with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams, resolving technical issues, responding to RFIs and ensuring correct implementation of structural design criteria during project execution.
  • Applies structural optimisation criteria, evaluating design alternatives, material efficiency and costs, ensuring safe, feasible solutions aligned with Australian standards.

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (suitable for Engineers Australia Stage 1 competencies).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including at least 12 months of Australian work experience.
  • Experience in structural analysis and design of industrial and building structures.
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards, particularly AS 4100, AS 3600 and AS 1170.
  • Ability to prepare engineering calculations, drawings and technical reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with site inspections/construction/project supervision.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage contractors and ensure compliance with engineering documentation.
  • Relevant professional engineering experience preferred, rather than imposing an arbitrary 2-year minimum.
  • Australian or International equivalent Drivers Licences.
  • Professionalism, positive attitude, and enthusiasm.
  • Able to achieve the necessary site security clearance requirements and/or police checks.

Desirable:

  • Relevant professional experience in civil and/or structural engineering.
  • Experience in structural analysis and design of industrial and building structures.
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards, including AS 1170, AS 3600 and AS 4100.
  • Experience using structural engineering software such as SpaceGass, ETABS, Robot, Revit and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in working within an organisation with ISO9001 framework.

In joining us, you'll benefit from:

  • Full-time employment with an established engineering company.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse civil and structural engineering projects.
  • Professional development and opportunities to expand technical skills and industry experience.
