About the role
The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing support to Aboriginal children and young people aged 0-18 and their families to optimise children’s development. The position works within a multidisciplinary team providing assessments and early intervention strategies for children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:
- Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Relevant post graduate experience in the delivery of evidence based interventions for children and their families presenting with complex issues.
- Proven skills in the assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of childhood disabilities including physical, cognitive and emotional development.
- The ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, managing a complex case load.
- Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in the issues impacting on Aboriginal children’s health and development, including knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people in Central Australia.
- Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items and ability to claim appropriately.
- Current NT Drivers Licence or ability to obtain one.
