Hays are excited to be partnering with a leading South Eastern Council to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Senior Landscape Architect. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping the municipality's open spaces, parks, streetscapes and public realm projects while contributing to the strategic planning and delivery of community-focused infrastructure outcomes.
About the roleWorking within the Strategic Infrastructure team, you will lead the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital works and operational projects, from initial concept development through to construction and completion. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and community groups to ensure high-quality, sustainable and innovative landscape outcomes that enhance the liveability of the municipality.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of landscape architecture projects across Council's capital works and operational programs.
• Prepare landscape concepts, master plans, detailed designs, construction documentation and cost estimates.
• Project manage multiple landscape and open space projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget and timeframes.
• Provide specialist technical advice relating to landscape design, open space planning and development referrals.
• Contribute to the development of strategic plans, policies and guidelines relating to open space and public realm development.
• Undertake community consultation activities and stakeholder engagement throughout project lifecycles.
• Prepare reports, presentations and recommendations for senior management and Council.
• Manage consultants, contractors and procurement processes associated with project delivery.
• Mentor and support junior team members while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Liaise with internal departments, government agencies, service authorities and community representatives to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline.
• Significant experience delivering landscape architecture, public realm and open space projects.
• Strong project management experience, including budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
• Advanced AutoCAD skills, with experience producing landscape and construction drawings.
• Proven ability to prepare strategic plans, policies and design guidelines.
• Excellent written, verbal and graphical communication skills.
• Experience engaging with communities and facilitating stakeholder consultation processes.
• Strong understanding of landscape architecture principles, open space planning and public infrastructure delivery.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a complex stakeholder environment.
• Demonstrated capability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members and influence project outcomes.
