Our work touches every corner of the state, from enabling frontline services to driving digital transformation.  And we do it all with one purpose: to make life better for the people who call South Australia home.

About our branch

The Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit (Fines Unit) is a business unit of the DTF and is responsible for the effective collection, resolution and enforcement of overdue fines and other debts owed to the state to assist in meeting the overall DTF strategic goals and objectives.

The Fines Unit places a high value on maintaining a work environment which is positive, inclusive, supportive and safe. The Fines Unit Leadership Team has a primary focus on ensuring all our team members have access to the information, training and support required to do and enjoy the roles they fulfill within the organisation.

Why this role matters

The Senior Resolution Officer will bring clarity to complex matters and help deliver fair, practical outcomes for the community.

What you will do

We are seeking motivated and experienced Senior Resolution Officers to join the Specialist Resolution Team within the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit (FERU). This role is ideal for someone who can work autonomously, navigate ambiguity and take ownership of complex and sensitive client outcomes.

As a Senior Resolution Officer, you will investigate issues, assess evidence and apply legislation, policy and procedure to support fair, sustainable and defensible outcomes. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to resolve complex matters, manage risk and contribute to service excellence and improvement.

This role is about more than resolving individual matters. It is about applying sound judgement, supporting fair and consistent decision-making and helping maintain public confidence in fines enforcement and debt recovery.

Remuneration:

ASO4 ($82,212 - $86,180 pa) + 12% Superannuation

What you bring

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Manage complex and sensitive matters, apply sound judgement within established legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Investigate, assess and contribute to resolving disputes, escalations and other sensitive matters.
  • Interpret and apply the Fines Enforcement and Debt Recovery Act 2017 and associated policies to support compliant and consistent decision-making.
  • Build productive relationships with clients, government agencies, legal representatives, community organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess and escalate operational, legislative, financial and reputational risks as required.
  • Analyse trends and operational insights to support service improvements, business performance and client outcomes.
  • Contribute to maintaining public trust through ethical conduct, procedural fairness and professional stakeholder engagement.

Successful Senior Resolution Officers will manage competing priorities, confidently make and support decisions using evidence, and remain accountable for recommendations and outcomes. They will be comfortable working through uncertainty, apply critical thinking to complex matters and communicate clearly with a broad range of stakeholders.
