The Opportunity
Fyfe is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead complex design and documentation across power and electrification infrastructure projects in Victoria. Working with a high degree of independence in the POEL team, you'll apply your technical expertise across substations, grid connections and broader electrification infrastructure.
Reporting to the Team Leader or Design Manager, you'll lead electrical engineering workstreams, review critical deliverables and advise clients, Network Service Providers and contractors on technical matters. You'll also help develop engineers and graduates while contributing to proposals, client engagement and the continued development of Fyfe's electrical engineering capability.
This is an opportunity to stay close to complex technical work while having a broader influence on project quality, client outcomes, engineering standards and the people around you.
The Impact You'll Have
- Lead complex electrical engineering design across power and electrification infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review protection relay settings, substation layouts, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and protection and automation specifications.
- Guide substation design, high-voltage equipment selection and protection philosophy development.
- Lead design reviews and technical workshops with clients and Network Service Providers.
- Mentor engineers and graduates, providing clear technical guidance and quality feedback that strengthens team capability.
- Shape project scopes and fee proposals while supporting client engagement and business development in the Victorian power market.
What You'll Bring
You'll be an experienced electrical engineer with strong power infrastructure credentials and the technical judgement to lead complex workstreams independently.
- A Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of eight to ten years' electrical engineering experience across power and electrification infrastructure.
- Experience in high-voltage substation design, protection engineering and grid infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of AS 2067, AS 3000 and Network Service Provider technical requirements.
- Demonstrated capability preparing and reviewing advanced electrical deliverables, including protection specifications, single-line diagrams and substation layouts.
- The ability to mentor junior engineers and provide senior-level advice to clients, Network Service Providers and project stakeholders.
- Progress towards Chartered Professional Engineer registration, together with an awareness of proposals and business development.

- Influence project outcomes through direct engagement with clients, Network Service Providers and contractors.
- Stay connected to hands-on engineering while leading workstreams and technical reviews.
- Develop engineers and graduates and help embed strong standards and best practice across POEL.
- Contribute to proposals, client relationships and the growth of Fyfe's presence in the Victorian power market.
