SD- Design Assistant (Womenswear) - Melbourne VIC

We are looking for a Design Assistant to join our Womenswear team and provide hands-on support to our Womenswear Design team throughout the ranging and product development process.
 
This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for fashion to build their experience within a fast-paced, collaborative design environment, gaining exposure to everything from product development and samples through to Buy meetings and VM handovers.
 
Please note: This is an 8-month fixed-term contract.
 
THE ROLE:

• Support the Designers throughout the end-to-end ranging and product development process
• Create and maintain style files, line sheets and product information, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date
• Assist with sketching and creating styles in internal systems
• Coordinate samples for Buy meetings, trade meetings, photoshoots, campaign activity and other key milestones
• Manage sample storage, organisation and archiving
• Work closely with Production to ensure samples are received on time and flag any delays or issues
• Support the preparation of VM handovers and ensure all relevant product information is updated
• Assist with colour palettes, Pantone swatches, newsletters and general Design team administration
• Liaise with internal teams and Stores to communicate product information and updates
• On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Fashion Design or a similar discipline
• 1-2 years' experience in a Design Assistant, Buying Assistant or similar role
• Previous Womenswear or fashion apparel experience is highly regarded
• Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A high level of attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Demonstrated hand-sketching ability
• An understanding of graphic textile prints is desirable
