Make a meaningful difference

At UnitingCare, we're committed to delivering high-quality healthcare services and creating positive outcomes for the communities we serve.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our newly established Assurance & Revenue team as our Revenue Assurance & Audit Manager.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape a newly created function from the ground up, influencing processes, systems and ways of working that will strengthen revenue integrity across our hospital network. You'll play a key role in protecting and optimising hospital revenue through auditing, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives while helping build a high-performing assurance function for the future.

Offering up to 50% work-from-home flexibility, this role combines strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and hands-on revenue assurance expertise in a highly collaborative healthcare environment.

Your part in our Revenue Operations Team

Reporting to the Senior Manager Revenue Operations, the Revenue Assurance & Audit Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of hospital revenue practices with health fund and government regulations.

This role oversees the review and processing of health fund audits (excluding onsite DRG audits), identifies billing and clinical discrepancies, and implements corrective actions to minimise risk and improve financial outcomes. You will lead assurance initiatives, support staff education on regulatory requirements, and work closely with stakeholders across all four hospitals to promote ethical revenue management practices.

Based in our Brisbane CBD Metro Office, this role operates in a hybrid environment and may occasionally require travel to hospital sites for education sessions, stakeholder engagement and audit activities.

This role presents a unique opportunity to help build a high-performing assurance function from the ground up. In the first 6-12 months, you will play a key role in establishing audit reporting and analytics, identifying opportunities to improve billing accuracy and revenue integrity, and supporting strategic initiatives that optimise financial outcomes across the hospital network.

Key duties will include:

  • Lead and coordinate health fund audit activities across UnitingCare Hospitals.
  • Develop and maintain audit schedules, ensuring timely preparation and submission of required documentation.
  • Analyse audit findings, identify trends and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Review retrospective data to identify opportunities for revenue recovery and reimbursement optimisation.
  • Act as the key contact for health funds, auditors and external stakeholders regarding audit activities.
  • Establish, review and maintain audit policies, procedures and best practice frameworks.
  • Manage and maintain audit tracking and reporting systems.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual audit and revenue assurance reports for leadership.
  • Provide expert advice on health fund contracts, reimbursement requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Monitor and audit revenue cycle processes including patient registration, billing and collections activities.
  • Lead investigations into compliance concerns, audit findings and revenue discrepancies.
  • Develop and deliver staff education on audit readiness, compliance requirements and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with clinical, coding, patient administration and finance teams to improve revenue integrity and reduce revenue leakage.
  • Lead a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional service delivery.
