We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and commercially minded Purchasing Officer to join our team at De Bortoli Wines.
About the Role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will manage the purchasing of dry goods and components, balancing price, quality, quantity and delivery requirements. You will raise and manage purchase orders, monitor production requirements and use MRP to ensure purchasing needs are met. You will maintain appropriate stock levels, develop supplier forecasts and ensure accurate system information, including costs and planning parameters. You will also work closely with Product Development on component design, costing, artwork approvals, trials and packaging changes. Building strong supplier relationships will be key, including resolving supply and quality issues, identifying alternative packaging solutions and assisting with supplier reviews, visits and audits where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing of dry goods and components, ensuring competitive pricing, quality and timely delivery.
- Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate costing and system information.
- Monitor stock levels and MRP requirements to ensure components are available for production.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve supply or quality issues.
- Collaborate with Product Development on component design, costing, artwork approvals, trials and packaging changes.
- Work closely with Planning, Operations, Finance and Sales/Marketing to support business requirements.
- Provide support to the Planning Department during peak periods
- Ensure all company policies, procedures and compliance requirements are followed.
About You
We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will be a confident communicator who can build strong relationships across all levels of the business and work independently while contributing effectively to a team. Experience in a production environment, stock management or MRP systems will be highly regarded. APICS accreditation or relevant qualifications will be advantageous. We are particularly interested in someone who demonstrates initiative, lateral thinking and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
