We’re seeking an experienced contract engineer to join our Planning team. This role supports the planning and prioritisation of network and water infrastructure by assessing system capacity, growth impacts, operational constraints, and compliance/risk requirements.
You will translate technical evidence into clear recommendations and contribute to development of the future capital program.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake systems planning assessments for water and/or wastewater networks and treatment assets
- Use modelling and analysis to evaluate capacity, performance constraints, and growth scenarios
- Support options assessment and development of staged solutions (short/medium/long-term)
- Contribute to capital planning and project prioritisation using agreed frameworks
- Prepare technical reports, planning papers, and decision briefs for internal stakeholders
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and delivery teams to validate assumptions and inputs
- Maintain alignment with relevant service, environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements
- Support continuous improvement of planning tools, data quality, and modelling processes
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Civil/Environmental/Water/Wastewater or related) or equivalent relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in water and/or wastewater systems planning and/or capacity assessment
- Practical experience with network/hydraulic modelling and analysis (and/or treatment capacity assessment)
- Ability to communicate technical outcomes clearly to a range of stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with data, assumptions, and uncertainties
- Safety-first mindset and collaborative approach
Desirable
- Experience with asset planning frameworks, risk-based prioritisation, and compliance-driven planning
- Experience contributing to business cases/capital program documentation
