The role:
The scope of this role sits within Coles Group Limited, supporting all brands across the Coles Group Portfolio (i.e. Supermarkets, Liquor, Distribution Centres, RROA and Chef Fresh). The Coles Group consists of 115,000 team members spanning across Australia. Reporting into the Payroll Compliance Manager, the Payroll Business Analyst will work to continuously improve the Coles Payroll risk profile and close any potential exposure gaps.
The primary objectives of the Payroll Business Analyst are to perform compliance checks across the payroll landscape to address any risks of non-compliance with relevant industrial instruments/legislation, improve ways of working (e.g. automation), support delivery of reviews and implement stronger internal controls to reduce the overall Coles Payroll risk profile.
Role Objectives:
To provide oversight and compliance assurance across the payroll landscape with the core purpose of championing a consistent approach to payroll across Coles brands and reducing payroll non-compliance risk.
To execute the suite of compliance reports and improve testing to enable payroll compliance risks to be resolved in real time with training provided to the business to uplift payroll capability.
Proactively identify, mitigate (where appropriate) and review large data sets to identify areas of non-compliance and escalate/address key risks identified across the payroll landscape.
To have a continuous improvement mindset to drive improvement to process and generate efficiencies.
To develop, execute and communicate on reviews when required, uplift internal capability within Coles and support embedment of a Way of Working that enables larger scale review.
Proactively develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders (including store operations), understanding and responding to team dynamics in an effective manner.
You’ll have:
5+ years’ professional experience in business analysis, system, process improvement, and change management in a large and complex organisations
Strong Microsoft skills including Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to handle large volumes of data to support in Payroll Compliance reviews
An ability to use AI tools e.g. Chat GPT
Understanding of risk management principles
Understanding of payroll practices and industrial instruments
Proven ability to take complex problems and create pragmatic decisions that align to business strategies and compliance requirements (legislative)
Proven interpersonal and organisational skills with an ability to develop and maintain networks within Coles across businesses and functions
Ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, projects and to work under pressure to deadlines
Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver messages in a clear, compelling and concise manner across a variety of audiences and modes
Experience in P&C Systems e.g. SAP SuccessFactors
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualified
Demonstrated strong performance in a Business Analyst, process governance, and/or project management role
Requires working knowledge of payroll and business process management
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders. Proven ability to meet tight deadlines
Very strong attention to detail, work ethic and time management skills
Ability to identify opportunities to deliver outcomes in a better and smarter manner
Ability to maintain payroll confidentiality supported by integrity and transparency
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Learning agility, adaptability, can-do attitude
Ability to work with and manage a wide variety of stakeholders
