Westvic Staffing Solutions, in partnership with the Glenelg Shire Council, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Parks and Gardens Apprentice to join the Parks and Gardens team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in horticulture, gardening, and working outdoors to begin a rewarding career in local government. As part of the role, you will provide gardening and maintenance services across Council’s parks, gardens, reserves, ovals, street trees and other public open spaces, while delivering quality customer service and improving the appearance of the shire.

Working under supervision and as part of a supportive team, you will assist with a broad range of horticultural and maintenance duties, including the care and establishment of garden beds, trees, grassed areas and floral displays. You will also gain experience in nursery work, plant propagation, weed control, spraying, landscape construction and the safe use of small plant and equipment.

The role will provide hands-on training and practical experience while supporting you to successfully complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Parks and Gardens qualification.

What you need to Succeed:

To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine interest in horticulture, gardening and outdoor maintenance, along with a strong desire to learn and develop practical skills in the industry.

You will be willing to undertake a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens qualification and apply your learning in a hands-on maintenance environment. You will have the ability to work safely, follow instructions, perform manual tasks and develop skills in the use of small plant and equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, spray units, and other machinery.

You will also bring a positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The successful applicant will be reliable, respectful and willing to contribute to a safe, supportive and customer-focused workplace.
