Mechanic (****** - Diesel Motor Mechanic)
- Conduct repairs and maintenance of farm machinery efficiently.
- Ensure machinery is operational during key cropping times.
- Assist with service and repairs to light vehicles.
Overview:
Chilwell is a family-owned, mixed cropping and livestock farm located 100kms east of Esperance, in WA. Our business is specialised in the production of wool, canola, wheat, barley and lupins, as well as beef and lamb, with operations extending over 50,000 ha of land.
We are looking for a full-time Mechanic to join the team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of farm machinery in a timely and cost-effective manner with regard to Chilwell’s Policies & Procedures. This is a full-time position located in Esperance, WA.
Main Tasks:
· Conduct repairs and maintenance of machinery in an efficient and timely manner.
· Ensure machinery is ready to go at key times in the cropping season eg spreading, ripping, seeding, spraying, harvesting
· Ensuring livestock machinery is in good working order at all times.
· Assist the service and repairs to light vehicles.
· Work with Operations Managers to ensure stump grinding equipment is operational and working to capacity.
· Work with Operations Managers to ensure earthmoving and lime pit equipment is operational as required.
· Take all reasonable care to ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through an act or omission at work.
· Work with the Safety Officer and other staff to continue to develop Safe work practices in the workshop etc.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
-A minimum of 1 year’ full time work experience in the industry + Recognised qualification in mechanical repairs.
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
-Valid driver’s license
-Sound reading, writing and arithmetic skills with the ability to write reports and record data collected from machinery.
-Strong administration skills – organised, thorough, systems-orientated with attention to detail
-Proficient computer skills and ability to use diagnostic tools on machinery.
-Good communication and interpersonal skills
-Sustain personal fitness and health to comfortably conduct tasks involving manual labour and strength
