This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and play a key role in strengthening investment governance frameworks while working closely with senior stakeholders across investments, risk, legal and operations.
About the Role:
This is not a BAU investment governance role. It is seeking someone who can provide insight and innovative ideas. Designing fit-for-purpose investment governance structures of the function internally while linking the architecture to their outsourced and third-party providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and enhance the investment governance framework across the entire business, ensuring it remains effective, practical and aligned with regulatory expectations;
- Oversee investment monitoring activities, including performance, risk, liquidity, stress testing and external manager due diligence;
- Review investment strategies, options and portfolio arrangements, considering market conditions, investment risks and member outcomes;
- Translate complex investment, portfolio and manager information into clear insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders;
- Provide insight and innovative ideas to design fit-for-purpose investment governance structures of the function internally;
- Act as a senior escalation point for significant investment issues, risks and governance matters;
- Lead governance improvement and transformation initiatives, including regulatory change and enhancements to processes, controls and regulatory reviews and reporting;
- Work closely with the trustee, board, investment managers, custodians, consultants and internal stakeholders to strengthen investment data, reporting and governance practices; AND
- Identify opportunities to improve the use of analytics, automation and technology across investment governance;
Key Requirements:
- 5 or more years' experience in investment governance with a background in investments, asset management, investment consulting, custody, superannuation or another institutional investment environment.
- Strong understanding of investment analysis, with the ability to assess portfolio performance, risk, benchmarks, attribution and manager information;
- Experience across investment research, manager due diligence, portfolio monitoring or performance analysis, with the ability to turn analysis into practical recommendations.
- Strong transformation skills and an interest in uplifting data, processes and overall fund operations by utilising innovative solutions, technology and AI tools to improve investment governance and reporting;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex investment matters clearly to senior and executive stakeholders as well as non-investment specialists;
- Strong judgement and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge and influence across multiple teams.
If you have a broad background in investment research and/or consulting, investment solutions, portfolio management and investment operations with strong funds management/ superannuation regulatory compliance and governance depth, this is a great role for you.
