Insurance Officer | Local Government

Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a local government client to support them in recruiting for an Insurance Officer on a temporary contract based in Logan Central, starting mid-November 2026 through to 30 June 2027.
About the role
- Pay rate of $44.99 per hour + super
- Maternity leave backfill, 36.25 hours per week, starting 11 November 2026
- Sits within the Risk and Compliance Program, reporting to the Principal Insurance Advisor
- Administer insurance claims including lodgement, follow-up, investigation and documentation
- Support claims under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (PIPA), including claims briefs and defence package coordination
- Assist with renewals, renewal questionnaires, mid-term adjustments and new policies
- Maintain asset schedules and insurance valuation data with Finance
- Process invoices, receipts, payments and journals, and support reserve monitoring and budget reporting
- Maintain accurate records in the claims management system and support internal users
Preferred Requirements
- Technical experience supporting insurances and insurance claims in a large, complex organisation
- Understanding of insurable risk and insurance claims principles
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to meet statutory deadlines
- Confident working with brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency with business systems and databases
- Local government or PIPA claims experience highly regarded
Preferred Qualifications
- Progress towards a Diploma level qualification in insurance, legal, governance or risk management, or equivalent extensive practical experience
