Position purpose
The Industrial Engineer improves the efficiency, quality and compliance of manufacturing processes. The role analyses production workflows, resolves quality and process problems, and makes sure products meet specifications and quality system requirements (ISO 13485).
The position works across production, quality and engineering teams. It turns inspection and process data into improvements that reduce defects, rework and waste.
Key duties and responsibilities Indicative time allocation is shown for each area.
- Process analysis and improvement (30%)
- – Study production workflows, cycle times, layouts and
- resource use to identify bottlenecks and waste.
- – Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools (value stream mapping, 5S, root cause analysis) to recommend and implement improvements.
- – Develop and update work instructions, process flows and standard operating procedures.
- Quality engineering (25%)
- – Define inspection criteria and in-process and final inspection plans for manufactured components.
- – Analyse dimensional data from OGP optical measurement systems and inspection records to detect trends.
- – Lead investigations into non-conformances, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Quality system and compliance (15%)
- – Maintain quality documentation and controlled records in line with ISO 13485 requirements.
- – Prepare for and support internal and external quality audits.
- – Monitor process and product changes to confirm requirements are followed.
- New product and process qualification (15%)
- – Support qualification and validation of new products, equipment and production lines.
- – Review production and quality requirements with engineering and production teams before release.
- Performance reporting (10%)
- – Develop and track key metrics such as yield, scrap, rework and on-time delivery.
- – Prepare reports and recommendations for management.
- Collaboration and training (5%)
- – Train production staff on new procedures, inspection methods and quality requirements.
- – Promote workplace health and safety in all process changes.
Skills, qualifications and experience required Essential
- Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- At least one year of experience in a quality or industrial engineering role in manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and controlled documentation.
- Experience with non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and dimensional specifications.
- Clear written and spoken English for reports, procedures and team communication.
Desirable
- Lean Six Sigma training (Yellow Belt or higher).
- Experience with optical measurement systems such as OGP.
- Experience in medical device, electronics or precision manufacturing.
- Awareness of ISO 13485 and regulated manufacturing environments.
Working conditions The role is based on site, working mainly in the production area and quality office. It requires personal protective equipment in production areas and compliance with site WHS procedures. Terms and conditions follow the employment contract and the relevant modern award or enterprise agreement.

- 1+ year quality engineering experience
- Non-conformance, root cause and CAPA
- Investigated in-process defects, supported corrective actions and verified implementation at Sercomm and Shin-Etsu
- ISO 9001 and documentation
- ISO 9001:2015 Control of Documented Information training (2021); maintained quality records at both QA roles
- Audits. Conducted quality checks and audits at Shin-Etsu
- New product and line qualification. Supported new product and new production line qualification at Sercomm
- Lean Six Sigma. Yellow Belt and White Belt (2021)
- OGP measurement. Operates OGP equipment at Signature Orthopaedics (Jun 2023 – present)
- Medical device manufacturing. Deburring, blasting, passivation and inspection of orthopaedic components (Jun 2023 – present)
- Leadership and training. Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management, Reach Community College (2024)
- Hands-on manufacturing. 11+ years in electronics assembly, soldering and inspection in the Philippines (2010 – 2021)
Annual Salary of $80,000 excluding Super
