In Employment Support Officer

About the organisation

Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential. We reflect on the critical factors shaping our contemporary world; the social, political and economic contexts, and we adapt our practice to work with those most in need.

Since 1977, Jesuit Social Services has provided services to some of the most disadvantaged in our community.

We place a high priority on advocacy and are a leader in policy development and research.

We accompany people and communities to foster and regenerate the web of relationships that sustain us all – across people, place and planet; and we work to change policies, practices, ideas and values that perpetuate inequality, prejudice and exclusion.

We are delivering a specialist Inclusive Employment Australia program for ex-offenders and participants who have intersected with the justice system.

We are looking for a passionate In Employment Support Officer with Inclusive Employment Australia or Disability Employment Services experience to:

  • Provide person-centred post-placement support to participants who have commenced employment, maintaining regular contact with participants and employers to monitor progress, address barriers, and support sustainable employment outcomes, including 4, 12, 26 and 52-week milestones and participants receiving Ongoing Support.
  • Assist participants in navigating changes to their employment, personal circumstances or workplace challenges by providing practical guidance, coordinating appropriate supports, and collaborating with employers and relevant stakeholders to promote job retention and long-term employment success.
  • Assist the Central Claims Unit to obtain, validate and upload evidence for employment outcome claims, accurately record participant engagement, supports and employment outcomes in relevant systems, and ensure compliance with contractual and organisational requirements.

About you

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in community services, employment services, disability, social work, youth work, or related field (or equivalent lived and/or work experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in Post placement or Ongoing Support in an IEA or DES context
  • Demonstrated experience providing person-centred case management, post-placement support or employment services to people experiencing complex barriers to employment, including disability, mental health challenges, justice involvement and other intersecting needs, with a focus on achieving sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Knowledge of IEA program design, disability employment reforms, and National Standards for Disability Services.
  • Understanding of the justice system and barriers experienced by people transitioning from prison or at risk of reoffending.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in program reporting, compliance, and data systems.
