Finance Business Officer (Level 4)Join a well-established State Government agency and contribute to the financial management of critical portfolios across Western Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with management accounting and government experience to step into an immediate start contract role with potential for extension.Your new companyOur client is a large State Government organisation responsible for supporting multiple operational portfolios across Western Australia. Based in East Perth, the Finance Business Partnering function provides financial management, budgeting, reporting and strategic financial advice across 13 portfolios. Due to increased workload and project demands, an opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Officer (Level 4) to join the team on an initial three-month contract.Your new roleReporting to a Senior Finance Business Coordinator and working closely with Finance Business Partners and key stakeholders, you will provide financial support and analysis to assist with the effective management of portfolio budgets and financial performance. Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with budget development, allocation processes and cash flow forecasting
• Monitoring expenditure, commitments and financial performance against budgets
• Preparing journals, reconciliations, management reports and financial analysis
• Reviewing funding requests and providing recommendations to management
• Conducting expenditure analysis and investigating financial variances and trends
• Supporting the preparation of business cases, submissions and financial briefings
• Producing financial information and reports for senior stakeholders
• Providing guidance and training on SAP/RMIS and financial management processes
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters
• Supporting month-end processes and ongoing financial planning activities

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Previous experience in management accounting, financial analysis or finance business support
• Exposure to State Government financial management, budgeting and reporting processes
• Strong forecasting, budgeting and month-end reporting experience
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to investigate variances and identify trends
• Experience using SAP and strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage competing priorities
• Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline will be highly regarded
• CPA or CA studies, completed or in progress, will be advantageous
