The Senior Software Engineer is a key individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering high-quality cloud-native, event-driven systems that support the firm's major technology transformation. The role focuses on building new and modernising existing platforms, engineering practices, and delivery models to enable long-term scalability, resilience, and business agility.
- Design and deliver scalable, cloud-first solutions using modern engineering practices.
- Develop high-quality applications using Node.js and SOLID design principles.
- Build serverless, event-driven and distributed systems for performance and reliability.
- Design NoSQL data models with a focus on scalability and efficient access patterns.
- Make pragmatic technology decisions based on business needs and operational outcomes.
- Apply cloud best practices across security, networking, resilience, observability and cost optimisation.
- Deliver reliable, scalable and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership.
- Translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions for stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement through innovation, accountability and engineering excellence.
What will you bring?
- Proven experience building and supporting large-scale, cloud-based distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, serverless, event-driven solutions and DevSecOps practices.
- Proficiency in Node.js (preferred) and modern engineering principles.
- Experience designing scalable NoSQL databases and cloud-native applications.
- Strong understanding of secure coding practices and Agile delivery.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and technical decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to influence engineering best practices and mentor team members.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Azure, Cosmos DB, React.js and cloud certifications are highly regarded.
