Our Client:
Our client is a respected organisation delivering a broad range of community-focused services in a remote Far North Queensland community. With a strong commitment to improving social wellbeing, community participation, recreation, and local engagement, they play a key role in creating opportunities that enhance quality of life for residents of all ages.
They are now seeking an experienced and community-minded leader to oversee a diverse portfolio of programs, services, facilities and events that make a genuine difference to the local community.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys creating opportunities for people to connect, participate and thrive. Leading a team within a community services environment, you will oversee the delivery of recreation programs, community events, facilities and essential community services, while working closely with stakeholders to ensure programs remain relevant, engaging and well-utilised.
No two days will be the same as you balance strategic planning, people leadership, service delivery and community engagement.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and delivering a yearly program of community events, celebrations and activities that encourage participation and strengthen community connections.
- Managing a diverse portfolio of community services, recreational facilities and programs, ensuring services are safe, accessible, well-organised and responsive to community needs.
- Leading, mentoring and supporting staff through effective workforce planning, performance development, coaching and day-to-day operational management.
- Developing and implementing sporting, recreational and community wellbeing programs that promote positive outcomes across a range of age groups.
- Building strong relationships with community members, government agencies, schools, health providers and other stakeholders to support collaborative service delivery.
- Managing budgets, operational plans, funding requirements and reporting obligations while ensuring services remain compliant and financially sustainable.
Your Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of leadership capability, community engagement experience and strong operational management skills.
- Experience managing community services, recreation, events, youth programs, social programs or similar community-focused services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build capability, foster a positive workplace culture and drive high-quality service delivery.
- Experience planning and coordinating programs, activities, events or projects from concept through to successful delivery.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse community and organisational groups.
- Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting, monitoring expenditure and working within funding agreements.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based in a remote Cape York Community, working Monday to Friday. Applicants must be able to work from this location and have the legal right to work in Australia in a manner that allows them to meet the ongoing requirements of the position.
