Senior Specialist -Health and Wellbeing

Are you an experienced health and wellbeing professional who thrives on solving complex workplace health challenges and influencing outcomes across large operational environments?

We are looking for a senior specialist to drive the ongoing development, governance and improvement of worker health and wellbeing programs across a diverse workforce. This is a highly influential role that offers the opportunity to shape organisational approaches to health risk management, fitness for work and wellbeing while partnering with leaders across the business to deliver practical and sustainable outcomes.

This position is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working autonomously, building strong stakeholder relationships and using technical expertise to improve worker health outcomes on a broad scale.

About the Role
As the organisation's subject matter expert for worker health and wellbeing, you will provide strategic advice, technical leadership and program oversight across key health risk areas. You will work closely with operational and corporate stakeholders to identify emerging issues, develop effective controls and implement initiatives that support both compliance and workforce wellbeing.

Rather than managing a team, the role relies on influence, collaboration and specialist expertise to achieve outcomes. You will have the opportunity to guide organisational decision-making and drive continuous improvement across a range of health-related disciplines.

Key Areas of Responsibility
You will lead and contribute to initiatives relating to:

• Worker health monitoring and health surveillance programs.
• Fitness for work frameworks, including fatigue management and drug and alcohol programs.
• Psychosocial risk management and employee wellbeing initiatives.
• Management of occupational health risks associated with hazardous exposures.
• Exposure monitoring programs and health-related awareness and training.
• Development of policies, standards, procedures and governance systems.
• Identification and implementation of practical solutions to workplace health risks.
• Provision of specialist advice to leaders, operational teams and corporate stakeholders.

About You

You are a confident and capable professional who can independently manage complex issues and balance technical, operational and stakeholder considerations to deliver positive outcomes.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Significant experience within health, workplace wellbeing, occupational hygiene, health and safety or a related discipline.
• Practical knowledge of health monitoring and health surveillance requirements.
• Experience managing fitness for work programs, including fatigue and drug and alcohol management.
• Demonstrated capability in psychosocial risk management and workforce wellbeing programs.
• Experience developing and implementing organisational frameworks, systems and improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of occupational health hazards and exposure management.
• Experience working in construction, infrastructure, transport, utilities, resources, rail or another high-risk environment.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
