Mechanical Fitter
- Perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on underground mining equipment.
- Inspect equipment, diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions.

We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team based at Rutherford, working on the maintenance, overhaul and repair of underground mining equipment.
This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise in a workshop environment, working on equipment essential to underground mining operations. If you enjoy fault finding, solving mechanical challenges and delivering quality workmanship as part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on underground mining equipment, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Inspect equipment, diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
- Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet project deadlines and production requirements.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace health and safety, quality and continuous improvement.
About You
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III or equivalent).
- Experience in heavy industrial, mining or manufacturing environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Familiarity with underground mining equipment, particularly continuous miners, shuttle cars and associated components, will be highly regarded.
- Current C Class driver’s licence and reliable transport.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail.
- A team-focused approach with good communication skills.
