We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will work alongside engineers, supervisors, contractors, and other team members to support the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assisting electrical engineers with the design, development, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, circuit diagrams, technical plans, specifications, and other engineering documentation.
  • Assisting with the preparation and modification of electrical engineering designs and technical documentation.
  • Installing, inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment, components, systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Conducting electrical testing and measurements using appropriate testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
  • Identifying electrical faults, equipment defects, and technical problems and assisting with troubleshooting and rectification.
  • Assisting with the commissioning and performance testing of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Monitoring the operation and performance of electrical equipment and identifying issues requiring attention.
  • Assisting with technical calculations, measurements, inspections, assessments, and engineering investigations.
  • Selecting and assisting with the installation and use of appropriate electrical components, equipment, instruments, and materials.
  • Preparing and maintaining technical reports, test results, inspection records, maintenance records, and other project documentation.
  • Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Assisting with fault finding and providing practical technical solutions to electrical and engineering problems.
  • Ensuring electrical work and technical activities are undertaken in accordance with approved plans, specifications, relevant standards, and workplace procedures.
  • Using electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other technical equipment safely and correctly.
  • Coordinating electrical works with engineers, builders, contractors, subcontractors, and other trades as required.
  • Inspecting completed works and assisting with quality assurance and compliance checks.
  • Maintaining accurate records of completed works, inspections, testing, maintenance, and equipment performance.
  • Following all workplace health and safety requirements and company policies.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
  • Assisting in completing projects within required timeframes and to the required quality standards.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • A Certificate III or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • At least 1 year of full-time relevant industry experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician or in a closely related technical role.
