Interested in technology, systems and solving problems? Start your ICT career while gaining a qualification and hands-on experience.
We’re looking for a motivated and curious person to join Council’s Corporate Systems team, where you’ll build practical ICT skills while completing a nationally recognised qualification.
This traineeship would suit someone who enjoys technology, likes figuring out how things work and wants to develop a career in ICT; whether you’re finishing school, looking for your first career opportunity or bringing experience from another workplace.
You’ll join an experienced team where you’ll learn on the job while working towards a Certificate IV in Information Technology.
What we will offer you:
- Above award rates! Commencing salary of $1,721.00 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (at 18 years of age or older), varying rates subject to age and experience as per award provisions.
- A flexible 35 hour work week with 3 hours paid study time each week.
- A supportive team environment with experienced ICT professionals to learn from.
- Hands-on experience with the systems and technology used across a large organisation.
- The opportunity to build a strong foundation for your future ICT career.
Your new role:
Working alongside Council’s Corporate Systems team, you’ll gain practical experience supporting the business systems used by employees across Council, including our TechnologyOne enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
You’ll learn to:
- Respond to application and system support requests from Council employees.
- Investigate issues and help users get the most out of Council’s business systems.
- Assist with user access, system configuration and data maintenance.
- Test system upgrades, changes, workflows, reports and integrations.
- Create and maintain user guides, procedures and system documentation.
- Support data quality and system administration activities.
- Work with people across Council to understand business needs and help identify practical system and process improvements.
Who we’re looking for:
You don’t need to already be an ICT expert.
What’s more important is that you’re curious, comfortable with technology and genuinely interested in learning how systems work.
You’ll be someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in information technology and business systems.
- Is confident using computers and Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new software.
- Enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving and figuring out how things work.
- Has good attention to detail and can communicate information clearly.
- Is comfortable asking questions when you don’t understand something.
- Can work independently as well as contribute positively to a team.
- Takes initiative, follows through and is willing to learn.
- Is committed to completing a Certificate IV in Information Technology while working full time.
You don’t need previous professional ICT experience. You may have developed your technology skills through school, study, work, personal interests or simply being the person everyone asks when they can’t work out how to do something on a system.
More than fixing computers
Application support is about helping people and technology work better together.
This traineeship will give you exposure to the systems that support Council’s day-to-day operations and the opportunity to develop skills in application support, system administration, testing, data quality and business process improvement.
If you’re interested in technology but also enjoy working with people, systems and processes, we’d love to hear from you.
