About the Business
GREEN MOTOR WORK SHOP PTY LTD is an independent, owner-operated automotive repair and maintenance workshop in Tarneit, in Melbourne’s west. The workshop provides vehicle servicing, mechanical repairs, fault diagnosis and general maintenance to private motorists and local businesses, and its whole approach is built around one aim: returning every vehicle to the road safe, reliable and operating efficiently. Led directly by its Director, the business runs a small, close-knit team in which each mechanic works on the full job from inspection through to final road test, standards of workmanship are set and checked at the bench, and customers deal with the people who actually work on their cars. The workshop values careful diagnosis over guesswork, honest advice about what a vehicle does and does not need, and a tidy, safe working environment.
About the Position
The business is creating a new full-time Motor Mechanic (General) position to meet growing demand for servicing and repair work at its Tarneit workshop. Reporting to the Director, the mechanic will take responsibility for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing light vehicles across engines, brakes, transmissions, steering and suspension, and for testing each vehicle to confirm it is safe and performing correctly before it is returned to the customer. In a workshop of this size the role carries real responsibility: the mechanic will manage their own jobs from start to finish, give day-to-day guidance to workshop staff, keep accurate records of the work performed, and help the Director maintain the turnaround times and quality on which the business’s reputation depends.
Key Responsibilities

- Record all work carried out, parts used and labour time accurately on job cards and workshop records
- Maintain tools, equipment and the workshop bay in a clean, safe and orderly condition in line with workplace health and safety requirements
- Provide day-to-day guidance to workshop staff and check the quality of their work before vehicles are released
