About the Role

Punjab Curry Club (ABN **************), located in Wellington Point, QLD, is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Chef with a passion for preparing high-quality food and contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of our kitchen.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have:

  • An Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience to supplement the qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  • A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes in accordance with menu specifications, quality standards and customer preferences.
  • Planning and developing menus.
  • Monitoring food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
  • Requisitioning food stock, ingredients, materials, supplies and kitchen equipment.
  • Checking the quality of ingredients and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Supervising and coordinating kitchen hands and other workers engaged in food preparation.
  • Planning, directing and supervising food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Analysing recipes and assisting in determining menu prices based on food, labour and overhead costs.
  • Ensuring meals are prepared and served in a timely manner while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Liaising with kitchen staff, food service staff and restaurant management regarding customer orders and general kitchen operations.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic working environment.
  • Ensuring the proper storage of food and appropriate cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils and implements.
  • Following workplace health and safety, accident prevention, first-aid and emergency procedures.
  • Maintaining appropriate food safety and hygiene standards throughout kitchen operations.
