About the Role:  
  
Curtin University and the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) are seeking a motivated Research Coordinator, Dietetics to lead and coordinate the Dietetics research program at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH).
  
In this role you will drive high-quality research that supports evidence-based practice and improves patient outcomes. Working closely with clinicians, academic partners and key stakeholders, you will identify and deliver research opportunities, support grant activities, foster a culture of research and quality improvement, and build research capability through collaboration and mentoring.
  
This is a part time, fixed term appointment until June 2029,with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. 0.4 FTE in total: 0.2 FTE through Fiona Stanley Hospital and 0.2 FTE through Curtin University’s School of Allied Health. 

  • FSH appointment (0.2 FTE): HSO Level P3, $141,071 – $145,918 pro rata.
  • Curtin appointment (0.2 FTE): $121,857 – $144,352 (ALB) pro rata, plus 17% superannuation.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide leadership and foster excellence in Dietetics research and articulate with research in the FSFHG and the Curtin School of Allied Health, Curtin University.
  • Provide relevant research education, supervise and mentor staff engaged in, or seeking to engage in research.
  • Promote clinical-research opportunities to improve health outcomes for patients and their families and evidence informed standards of practice.
  • Provide strategic management of the translation of Dietetics research knowledge into relevant and contemporary practice.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria): 

  1. Tertiary qualification in Dietetics and eligible for full Membership in Dietitians Australia as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD).
  2. Possession / working towards a PhD, or substantial trajectory in research.
  3. Evidence of strategic leadership including high level of interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  4. Record of obtaining research income and/or evidence of recent high-quality research with outputs and impact.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate and partner in a hospital and university setting with individuals, teams and projects.
  6. Proven ability to motivate, manage and mentor both individuals (research honours, research masters and Higher Degree in Research students) and teams of people including supervision, development, evaluating performance and providing feedback.

Desirable criteria:

  • Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Previous research experience in partnership with under-represented community groups (e.g. Aboriginal people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people living with mental illness, cognitive impairment) ensuring research reflects diverse patient perspectives and is inclusive.

Role Requirements:

  1. Evidence of eligibility for or current full membership of Dietitians Australia (DA) and Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) status must be provided prior to commencement.
  2. As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role

  4. This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check
