With more than 15,000 residential and commercial installations across five states and offices in three, we're a NETCC-accredited retailer delivering solar PV, battery storage and heating/cooling solutions to homes and businesses. The role
We're looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support our design and installation teams across residential and commercial solar and battery projects. You'll work between the office and the field – turning site information into system designs, supporting installers through commissioning, and helping us keep quality and safety standards high as we scale.
What you'll do
- Prepare system designs and specifications for residential, commercial and industrial solar PV and battery installations
- Produce single-line diagrams, panel schedules, layout and connection drawings in CAD
- Model system performance and energy yield to optimise design and equipment selection
- Test and evaluate PV modules, inverters and battery equipment; review product specifications and recommend design changes
- Carry out structural, thermal and cost analyses for mounting and system layouts
- Provide technical support to installation crews during installation, start-up, testing and commissioning
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, inspection checklists and quality/safety standards for installation work
- Support performance monitoring and post-installation review of completed projects
About you
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related engineering discipline
- Working knowledge of solar PV and battery systems, or a strong interest and the technical foundation to learn quickly
- Competent in CAD and comfortable with design/simulation software (e.g. PVsyst, SolarEdge Designer or similar)
- Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to attend sites
- Clear communicator who can work with installers, electricians and customers
- Current driver's licence
- White Card and CEC/SAA accreditation are a plus but not required
