Project Engineer | Roads, Subdivisions & Structures

Full-time, permanent | Canberra, ACT | $100,000-$130,000 + super

The Opportunity

An established construction contractor delivering civil infrastructure and major construction projects across the ACT and surrounding regions is looking for a Project Engineer to join its growing team in Canberra.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience across roads, subdivisions and civil structures to take ownership of key project delivery activities while working alongside experienced Project Managers and site teams.

You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from tendering and procurement through to construction, commercial management and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination and delivery of civil construction projects across roads, subdivisions and structures.

• Assist with tender preparation, estimating and detailed quantity take-offs.

• Coordinate procurement, subcontractor scopes and supplier packages.

• Manage contract administration, including variations, payment claims, contractual notices and EOT claims.

• Prepare and manage RFIs, technical submittals and project documentation.

• Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts, reporting regularly to the Project Manager.

• Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to maintain programme, quality and safety standards.

• Assist with construction planning, progress tracking and resolving technical issues on site.

• Manage quality documentation, including ITPs, inspections, as-built drawings and handover records.

• Support WHS compliance and ensure works meet project specifications and relevant standards.

• Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors throughout project delivery.

About You

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.

• Minimum three years' Australian experience in a Project Engineer or similar civil construction role.

• Experience across road construction, land subdivisions and/or civil structures.

• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, drawings and technical specifications.

• Proven ability to complete accurate quantity take-offs, including concrete, reinforcement, formwork and detailed excavation.

• Experience with procurement, subcontract administration, variations and cost reporting.

• Strong commercial awareness, communication skills and attention to detail.

• Current driver's licence and White Card.

• Procore experience will be highly regarded.

You must also be willing to travel to project sites within approximately a three-hour radius of Canberra at least twice per month, or as otherwise agreed in writing.
