- Lead and mentor the infrastructure team to enhance operational maturity.
- Define infrastructure strategy and technology roadmaps for the organisation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting a 24/7 business environment.
Why This Role Is Different
The business is looking for a technology leader, not just an infrastructure manager.
Someone who understands how all the pieces fit together. Someone who has likely built their career within a small-to-medium-sized business, MSP, or mid-market environment where wearing multiple hats was expected, not the exception.
You’ll have worked in organisations of approximately 200-900 employees where technology leaders were required to balance strategy, architecture, operations, security, vendor management, and business engagement.
You’ll inherit a capable team, but this isn’t a role where you’ll sit above the technology.
You’ll provide direction, architectural input, strategic thinking, and leadership while remaining close enough to understand what’s happening across theenvironment and support the team when needed.
This Role Is Likely NOT For You If:
- Your experience has primarily been gained within large enterprise environments with highly specialised teams.
- You’re accustomed to separate teams managing infrastructure, networking, cloud, security, architecture, workplace technology, and operations.
- You’ve spent the last several years focused primarily on governance, vendor management, PMOs, or people leadership without maintaining visibility of technology delivery.
- You prefer leading from a distance rather than remaining connected to technical outcomes.
The Opportunity As Infrastructure & Cloud Manager, you’ll be responsible for the ongoing evolution, security, scalability and reliability of the organisation’s technology environment.
You’ll help drive both day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic initiatives while supporting a 24/7 business environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring the infrastructure team
- Defining infrastructure strategy, standards and technology roadmaps
- Driving operational maturity and continuous improvement initiatives
- Providing technical leadership across cloud, infrastructure, networking and security
- Supporting acquisition and transformation activities
- Managing vendors and technology partners
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and scalability
- Working closely with the CTO to shape future technology direction
- Supporting architectural decisions and technology investment planning
About You We’re specifically interested in technology leaders who have spent the majority of their career within SMB, mid-market, or Managed Services environments.
You’ll understand what it’s like when:
- Resources are finite
- Priorities shift quickly
- Teams need to be highly cross-functional
- Technology leaders are expected to contribute both strategically and operationally
- Outcomes matter more than process
You’ll likely bring:
- Broad experience across Azure, Infrastructure, Networking, Security and End User Technology
- Experience supporting environments typically ranging between 200-1,000 users
- Experience scaling technology functions through periods of growth, acquisition, transformation or integration
- Leadership experience while remaining connected to delivery and technical outcomes
- Strong commercial thinking and business engagement skills
- A problem-solving mindset and genuine ownership mentality
- Confidence to respectfully challenge thinking and propose alternative approaches
- A passion for learning and staying current with emerging technologies
