We are currently seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team.
About the Role
As a Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles and related mechanical and electrical components. The role involves fault diagnosis, scheduled servicing, component repair and replacement, reassembly, testing and the use of diagnostic equipment to ensure vehicles operate safely and effectively. You will work closely with other workshop team members to maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
·Detect and diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults in a broad range of customer vehicles using diagnostic equipment and computer-assisted testing tools.
·Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications, including fluid, brake and other routine system checks.
·Dismantle and remove mechanical assemblies such as engines, transmissions, steering systems and differentials to inspect components for wear, damage or faults.
·Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical and electrical components in accordance with service requirements and manufacturer standards.
·Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical, ignition, fuel injection, engine management, emissions control, cooling and related automotive systems.
·Reassemble engines, components and mechanical assemblies following repairs, ensuring all parts are correctly fitted and secured.
·Test and adjust repaired or replaced components and systems using appropriate instruments and diagnostic equipment to confirm safe and effective operation.
·Inspect vehicle systems and identify developing mechanical issues to help prevent breakdowns and maintain vehicle performance and reliability.
·Maintain service and repair records and communicate identified faults, required repairs and completed work clearly with the workshop team.
·Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop areas in a clean and safe condition and comply with workplace health, safety and environmental requirements.
Skills and Experience
·AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology with relevant on-the-job training, AQF Certificate IV, or an equivalent relevant automotive trade qualification. Relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification where applicable.
·Relevant practical experience in motor vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and mechanical repair.
·Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
·Experience using automotive scanning tools and computer-assisted diagnostic equipment.
·Ability to diagnose faults accurately and carry out repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop procedures.
·Experience repairing and replacing engines, transmissions, steering systems and other related mechanical components.
·Sound understanding of automotive electrical, fuel injection, ignition, emissions and engine management systems.
·Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.
·Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a busy workshop environment.
·Ability to work independently and manage assigned repair and servicing tasks efficiently.
